Vacation Guide for Sagittarius

Nothing gets your pulse racing faster than the prospect of taking a trip to a city you've never seen, to a land far away. In fact, the farther you need to travel, the better. Look into tours to the Far East, Bali or New Zealand for starters. You long for exotic adventures, so add these possibilities too: Taiwan, Tibet, Korea, Turkey, Israel, Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Venezuela or Chile.

Sagittarius loves to travel so much that you have learned to enjoy the parts of the trip that other people usually groan about‹standing in line to get through security, finding your way around the airport terminal, and for some, dealing with airline food‹whatever! To you, this is all part of the fun of getting away, and nothing can dampen your spirit. You are a pleasure to travel with, and anyone you bring along is lucky to have you near. Indeed, you are a bright, energetic, enthusiastic sign, and quite intellectual too, so you will look to learn as much as you can while on your travels.

As a Sagittarius, you need lots of mental stimulation and will study the history and culture of your destination long before you embark. Sagittarius is usually skilled at languages, so you should be able to master at least some basic words fairly quickly.

Because you tend to be athletic, you favor vacations that offer big sky and wide- open places; being a fire sign, you like warm settings. Club Med must have been designed with Sagittarius in mind, since, there vacationers can participate in a wide variety of activities without extra expense.

Most Sagittarius enjoy equestrian sports, so a trip to visit a dude ranch in Arizona or Texas would also be ideal‹better yet if you can participate in the instructional nature walks, play tennis, swim, run and work out at a well- appointed gym.

You might also enjoy a visit one of the national parks, like the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon or Zion Canyon. You are not likely to want to spend a large amount of money‹your sign is often quite financially savvy. To save on costly hotels, you might want to go camping. Sleeping in a tent under the stars sounds good to you. Wherever you go and whatever you do, you need to feel free and unfettered, so don't over plan your itinerary‹allow for some spontaneity, and you'll enjoy yourself to the hilt.

The Sagittarius Man: November 22 - December 21
by Susan Miller

Your Sagittarius guy has a strong intellect, penetrating thought process and continual curiosity about the world around him. Your man is ready for a deep discussion on ethics, morality, politics, philosophy, or religion, so go ahead one night and tackle The Meaning Of Life. Unlike Gemini, who focuses on details of the here and now, Sagittarius looks at the entire sweep of collected knowledge and tries to make sense out of the big picture. His most attractive qualities are his faith and optimism, and his customary cheer will endear him to you. This sign also has major wanderlust, so pack your glacier glasses and bug spray if you want to travel with him on his jaunts to the most exotic locales. Finally, this is the sign of the ultimate jock. Many of our most gifted Olympians are born under this sign and he will require lots of physical activity. If he sounds like a handful, it's because he is, but such an interesting handful!

Your Challenge

Your Sagittarius man likes the bachelor life more than most signs, so getting him to commit may take some doing. Freedom is something he values enormously and it's crucial for him to be able to do what he wants to do.

How To Handle Him

"Mens sanis in corpore Sagittarius" Sag has so much energy he will need some sort of regular exercise to keep him from going completely mental. If he needs to spend what you believe to be inordinate amounts of time at the gym, don't hassle him-- humor him instead. (You won't be able to win this one anyway). Enjoy his beautiful shoulders and abs and glutes and tell him he looks just like the Diet Coke man.

Sag is great because they always tell the truth, but sometimes hearing unvarnished truth can be rough on the rest of us. They have no sense of diplomacy, so if you ask their opinion, be ready to hear it! In love, Sag needs lots of sex and sports but he has an equal need for an intellectual partner. He will want his woman to stay up to date on political issues and trends and he will enjoy lively and even heated debates. If he needs regular nights out with the boys, say "fine." Nothing spoils a relationship faster for a Sag than a sense of claustrophobia.

Things To Do, Gifts To Buy

Equipment for his favorite sport or new workout clothing would be good, and if you are feeling generous, a membership to a health club would be ideal (that would be a subtle acknowledgment of his manly physical prowess). This sign adores animals too, so you could surprise him with that pet Dalmatian puppy he wants.

Sagittarius is a sophisticated sign that enjoys international cuisine. When taking him to dinner read the reviews and find an unusual restaurant such as one that serves Vietnamese, Japanese, Turkish, or Thai cuisine. Afterwards, continue the international theme by going to a foreign flick. Often guys from this sign are good with languages and at the very least enjoy a good debate, so chose a movie with a substantial plot (no, The Bodyguard won't quite cut it.) This sign loves sports, as participant rather than a spectator. Suggest you go swimming, play tennis or do any sport where you can keep up your end fairly well. His ego is not fragile, this guy doesn't want you to let him win for he enjoys and admires strong women. So give him a real workout on the courts and you'll both win!

The more things you do in the great outdoors, the better, for he likes to be in expansive space. You know where this is all leading in terms of your seduction--your Sagittarius lover would be thrilled if you suggested making love al fresco. This could be a problem if you are moved to do this in winter and live in a freezing region of the country. Since Sag is the sign of the centaur, chances are he likes horseback riding, so how about seducing him in the barn on top of an old-fashioned hay stack? Start by telling him how perfect his riding "seat" is and how you couldn't get your eyes off him. Since Sagittarius is the sign ruling the thighs, gently stroking him there will drive him wild with desire. If the weather is warmer, seduce him out in the wide open spaces, in a private, lush and green setting, under the full moon and stars. Can you think of anything more romantic?

The Sagittarius Woman: November 22- December 21
by Susan Miller

The Sagittarius woman is vivacious, funny, self assured, and sophisticated. She probably had an opportunity to travel as a child, and will need to continue to do so throughout her life. She's a woman who needs challenge and intellectual stimulation in all parts of her life.

Sag women are often highly successful at what they set out to do simply because they are so positive they will succeed. Since the sign also rules international communication, they are either known worldwide or deal with matters of global importance. This is not an overly-sensitive sign, and when criticized, they listen carefully to the feedback. She should be careful not to hurt her mate's feelings by being too direct in her comments; Sag often has no idea of how her words effect others. Her man should also be sure to allow her a sense of freedom which is highly important to the Sag woman.

Your Challenge

To keep her intellectually stimulated will be a lifelong struggle. This is no dumb bunny, and you may have to struggle to keep up with her. (Her idea of fun is listening to National Public Radio.) She gets bored easily, so be forewarned!

How To Handle Her

Her sign rules the centaur, half man, half horse, pointing high, toward the sky, which symbolizes her quest to reach the lofty goals she's set. She could be "high maintenance" in that you will have to endure all the highs and lows of her existence, for her motto is nothing ventured, nothing gained. Alas, some things just aren't going too work out, but unlike Cancer, who will try to second-guess themselves, Sag's optimism will buoy her up. She will be on to Plan B in no time. Sometimes this could be exhausting for you, so keep the vitamins handy. Places To Go, Things To Buy Her

If you'd like to get her a fragrance, choose one of the fresh new uni-sex fragrance, for she won't wear anything too conventionally flowery or sweet. She is apt to be a runner or do some equally strenuous sport--can you imagine a marathon runner fussing with Arpege? Not quite.

Her likes her look sporty, preferring pants to skirts and sportswear to anything more formal. Sag generally likes comfortable shoes, the heels not too high. It must have been a Sag who started the trend of wearing her sneakers on the way to work. Often Sag women were tomboys as a kid, and as a woman she manages to keep her enviable figure because of all the exercise she gets. Give her clothing which is body revealing, such as a mini skirt and matching top in lycra or spandex. She is one woman who can carry it off in style! Or treat her to ten weeks with a personal trainer and she'll be yours for life.

The Sag woman has no patience with frilly nightgowns but prefers either something plain and natural. What would she most likely wear to bed? A cool, thin, tight white cotton tank top which outlines her breasts, worn with tiny cotton string panties--or nothing at all. She likes men's wear, so you might catch her putting on your button-down shirt with not much else on but a smile. (Remember how fetching Annette Bening looked in the seduction scene from American President?). She will do more for your shirt than you could ever imagine.

She will be impressed if you treat your body like a temple too, so try to work out often. Then, you can lounge around in tight bicycle shorts to heat things up. Look at her innocently and say you took a part time job as a messenger and need to wear them for practicality and comfort. (She'd got a good sense of humor.) Since this woman would love a strenuous workout, plan an active, feather-flying pillow fight or try chasing her around the yard. Feeling randy? Toss her into a snow drift. The aim here is to get her pulse rate up then convince her she won't need her morning run with you around.

Sagittarius Man

The Sagittarius man is always on the go, so give him a sporty watch to help him stay on schedule. A leather case for his passport or custom luggage tags are other ideas for this traveling man. He is quite athletic, so you can give him a new piece of gear for that sport he's just taken up (golf clubs? ski boots? snowboard?), nifty new workout clothes, or some new gear for his camping trip (a tent of the most modern materials? portable grill?). Buy him a Swiss Army compass for his hiking expeditions, and give him a Swiss Army knife to go with it. Buy him mapping software to track his journey on his laptop. Athletic equipment stores have so many things to choose from!

You could also delight him with four box seat tickets to the next home team basketball game. Get him a silver/black reversible down vest in rip-stop nylon for his outdoor life, or make him feel 18 again and get him a basketball and net. To appeal to the kid in him, get him up-front tickets to the circus, or buy him a gorgeous, colorful kite. If he has children, buy a remote control boat for them to bring to the park in the spring. He wants this, whether they do or not!

Sagittarius Woman

This woman is active and athletic, so give her a gym membership or a stack of new fitness videos. She might like to learn a new sport, so you could provide the lessons (karate? horseback riding? spinning?). In fact, any kind of classes would interest the Sagittarius woman, so look through some brochures and catalogs and find something that would intrigue her, from learning Italian to Chinese cooking, all the way to the ultimate gift: grad school.

For clothes, she prefers easy, comfortable sportswear that she can mix and match. She may need a garment fold-over suitcase (long, for a women's clothes) to bring on her many trips or a passport holder in a buttery, fine leather. She's ultra-modern, so a digital camera, where she can pop her photos onto her homepage could really interest her! There are several affordable models on the market. A sporty Navigator watch would be much appreciated. She's sporty, so a pair of boots from a fine retailer would make her happy. Or, how about a new pair of sneakers?

She's highly intelligent, so if you buy her a book, choose a current, controversial title you can debate together later. Like her male counterpart, she'd adore tickets to the circus, the more exotic the troupe the better. Her sign rules the turquoise, so look for an unusual piece with that stone which is lucky for her. A new kitten or puppy would cater to her love of animals.

Sagittarius: Work Out, Be Philosophical

Easy-going, mellow Sagittarius; ruled by Jupiter, life events rarely get on your nerves. Your style of dealing with change is to periodically review and revise your methods as soon as a warning light beeps. Your only problem may be the flip side of your greatest asset: your optimism. You may, at times, take too rosy a view of things. You like to move ahead quickly. You get easily bored with details. This combination can occasionally trip you up, since you could miss something important or incorrectly judge a situation. Surround yourself with detail/analytical air types (Gemini, Aquarius or Libra) or hire an earth sign (Virgo, Taurus or Capricorn) assistant to balance you. A mutable sign, you are one of the lucky flexible ones that can accept change best. Your fire side of your nature makes you enthusiastic, energetic and creative in thinking up new plans and ideas.

When life becomes just too much, head for the gym. Nothing makes you toss off stress better than a good sweat. Besides pumping iron, taking your dog for a run is great. Your sign is symbolized by the centaur, so try an equestrian sport. Hire a horse for an hour and go for a morning gallop through a park, or learn to play polo. Being outdoors regularly is good for you, for Sagittarius is not a sign known to sit still happily or stay cooped-up inside for too long.

Games of agility such as fencing or archery, could appeal to you as well. There are some Sagittarius that don't like many sports, but instead, they like to walk. That's all they do, but they do so much of it, that they leave the rest of us in the dust. When they walk they open the windows of their minds and clear out all the clutter blocking new creative ideas. The unity of mind and body is highly regarded and maintained by Sagittarius.

If you need some entertainment, check the newspaper for an animal show or rodeo, or take a wee one to a day at the circus or a zoo. Sagittarius rules large animals, and it is a rare Sadge that doesn't enjoy being around pets and rare animals. Hang out with positive spirits like yourself. Choose a Leo, Aries, Gemini, Aquarius or Libra. The water signs are likely to be too emotional for you, and the earth signs too serious (earth "puts out" fire).

Like your opposite sign, Gemini, you enjoy books. Head to the nearest bookseller with a large selection or go to the library. Unlike your opposite sign of Gemini, who likes either to read best sellers or self-help books, you are more likely to gravitate to books that deal with a particular philosophy of life. You may also enjoy inspirational biographies of well-known people who have met life's challenges with courage, and are willing to share their insights.

Your sign is the natural ruler of the 9th house, and therefore your sign is a reflective one. Having a long discussion with a family priest, rabbi, reverend (or other religious person) or even a professor or other scholar, could prove stimulating. Sagittarius is a give-and-take sign that does not become threatened by other's differing views. Highly cerebral, you like the process of debate. and hold your own quite well in any discussion. By allowing random or unfamiliar points of view within your radar, you might be able to come up with creative solutions to whatever is causing your tension.

Another Sagittarius activity that would give an instant change of pace would be an evening adult education class. Your sign enjoys learning, so go hear an expert speak about a topic of interest to you at a neighborhood school, university or even a lecture at a local YMCA or bookstore event. The class need not have any information about whatever is troubling you. Try a class on wine tasting, shooting pool, modern American Poetry, Chinese cooking, or anything that interests you.

Finally, think about getting away for a short time if you can spare the time. Like Gemini, Sagittarius is a travel sign. Check your frequent flier mileage or keep an eye out for bargain airline rates. Sometimes it is necessary to get away to see one's problems with objectivity. A long weekend in London or a five days spent camping in Wyoming would fix you right up, and you could return with an entirely new point of view. Sadge is independent and self-reliant, so if you have nobody to bring along, traveling alone would be no big deal. See Notre Dame at dawn, have a croissant in an outdoor cafe, stroll the Left Bank, stop by the Louvre, take a drive in the French countryside. Sounds good, eh? Think about it, Sadge.

Fitness for Sagittarius

Your Ruling Planet: Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the happy and optimistic planet.

The Part Of The Body Your Sign Rules: Sagittarius rules the hips.

Your Metabolism: High.

Your Health Profile:

Lucky Sagittarius! Being a Sadge almost guarantees that you'll excel in at least one sport. More Olympic champions are Sagittarius than any other sign. You've got a lot going for you: strength, your own natural rhythm, speed and the confidence you'll win (Jupiter sees to that). Outgoing, funny and social, you enjoy being with friends when you exercise and like a little friendly rivalry to engage your active mind.

Sports like archery, fencing, rock climbing (or wall climbing in a gym), polo, horseback riding, or white river rafting would keep you focused and excited while you're getting fit. It's not by chance I mention equestrian sports: your symbol is the Centaur: half man, half horse, so you and horses can share a special affinity. Sagittarius rules travel, so hiking, camping, rock climbing, canoeing--anything that will keep you in locomotion--are good.

There isn't a sport you wouldn't try and as a result, your body is probably the envy of your friends. Sagittarius intuitively feels the link between body and mind and regularly seeks ways to strengthen both.

Your biggest weakness: butter and other fats. Ruled by Jupiter, you could be drawn to rich foods. Since your sign rules the hips, that's where the excess pounds will wind up if you're a woman, and if you're a guy, you'll begin to see "love handles." You don't like limits or restrictions, which can sabotage your determination to slim down. Luckily, most Sadges move around so much, they tend to lose fat easily if they put their minds to it.

Do calisthenics if you can't get to the sports you love. Take calcium early in life to keep bones (and especially hip and pelvic bones) strong.

Your Biggest Asset:

Your eagerness to try new things, your innate strength and your curiosity about how far you can go.

What Drives You Crazy:

"Don't Fence Me In" is your song, cowpoke. The great outdoors was made just for you.

Health Risks:

Being too undisciplined to exercise when you should, but don't feel like it. Excuses, excuses...
